Development Goals

The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are eight goals to be achieved by 2015 that respond to the world’s main development challenges. The MDGs are drawn from the actions and targets contained in the Millennium Declaration that was adopted by 189 nations-and signed by 147 heads of state and governments during the UN Millennium Summit in September 2000. Visit the MDG website for full details.

Below are the 8 goals. Click on them for a full explanation and here to find out how they are progressing. Further down this page you can also view a video of the ‘8 GOALS FOR AFRICA’ song, a specially recorded song by eight African artists (one for each MDG) from across the continent.

All our member charities are somehow contributing to the achievements of most of these goals. It is an enormous task and one that we can all take some responsibility for. Just imagine if we all did.
