In October Julian, from the Livingstone Tanzania Trust, attended a conference in Uganda, hosted by Teach a Man to Fish and paid for by them as part of our Award for Best Entrepreneur in Education Programme in Tanzania and 2nd best in Africa. The conference focused on how secondary schools can improve their self-sufficiency by adopting a more entrepreneurial approach. We are really pleased to welcome Wamumbi Orphan Care Foundation, a newly registered charity we have seen grown over the last 2 years. Indeed Genevieve, its founder, has been an active participant at our meets and an enthusiastic contributor and learner. It's always a real pleasure to see young people getting involved in charity work, an activity often seen as the remit of those who have retired and have time on their hands. T4A welcomes Porridge and Rice our latest member. Find out what they do and best of all, join one of their many fundraisers like their family day on 29th June in Whitton, featuring a 5-a-side football tournament. Expedition Africa 2011

On 10th March, 4 lads are setting off on an exciting journey from Exeter to South Africa in a converted Land Rover. Prior and during this 4 1/2 month journey they will be promoting Together 4 Africa and raising funds for Ket Wangi Orphanage in Kenya where they will stop for a couple of weeks and help out. In historic move, UN creates single entity to promote women’s empowerment

2 July 2010 – In a bid to accelerate the empowerment of women, the General Assembly today voted unanimously to create a dynamic new entity merging four United Nations offices focusing on gender equality, a move hailed by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and other senior officials. “The newest member of the UN family has been born today,” Mr. Ban told the Assembly after it passed the resolution setting up the new UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, to be known as UN Women.
